Me, Tommy Smith

     My name is Tommy Smith, No, it is not the most unique of names. In fact it might be as vanilla as they get. But fortunately, I'm the only one I've ever met. I'm a senior at the University of Maryland, studying architecture, and when I'm not immersed in my academic pursuits, you'll often find me playing guitar, making music, on the rugby field or gliding down snowy slopes, fully embracing the thrills of life. Yet, amidst the hustle and bustle, I've discovered the beauty in moments the moments between.

     Downtime, as defined, is that precious space in our lives when we're not actively focusing on and engaging in the outside world and are simply letting our minds wander. It's those instances when we're in a state of flow, exploring the depths of our thoughts and emotions. For me, downtime is not just a breather; it's a wellspring of creativity, a sanctuary where art can be discovered.

     This past summer, I was inspired to create an Instagram account that serves as an outlet. Each time I turn on my laptop, I try my best to put my emotions or craziest ideas into an image during these downtimes.

     Hopefully you will also discover the quiet moments, to reflect on the beauty of stillness, and to find inspiration in the ordinary.
